Museum of the Cetinska Krajina Region – Sinj

The Museum of the Cetinska Krajina Region – Sinj was founded on 7 July 1956 and was originally called the Town Museum – Sinj. As the Museum carried out its activities in the greater Sinj area and the scope of museum activities used to cover the territory of the then Sinj municipality, it changed its name to the Museum of the Cetinska Krajina Region – Sinj in 1963. Since its foundation, the Museum has been located in the same building, the monumental building called Palacina, which forms a historical and architectural complex with the adjacent Kamičak fort. The complex was built in the early 18th century, and as a cultural monument under protection it has been inscribed in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia. The Museum is a general-type museum according to its contents, and a regional museum according to the territorial scope of museum activities. The founder of the Museum of the Cetinska Krajina Region – Sinj is the Split – Dalmatia County (Class: 023-03/94-01-64, Reg. No.: 532-03-3/1-94-03, Zagreb, 22 February 1994). The Museum has carried out museum activities pursuant to the Museums Act and other regulations, within the System of Museums of the Republic of Croatia as set out in the Ordinance on the Method and Criteria for Integration into the System of Museums of the Republic of Croatia.
